OLC Course Developer & WorldClassRoom Administration Team: Sandra Beins

Please tell us about yourself and your background.

My name is Sandra Beins, and I am the Learning Management Systems Specialist. I came to Webster University from another local university where I worked in a department supporting two undergraduate degree programs, and providing administrative and technical support to faculty.

Before that, I had a myriad of other interesting jobs such as the military (U.S. Army and Army Reserves), drove a school bus, worked as a medical assistant in a private practice, and worked in an Emergency Room.

What do you do in your free time?

In my free time, I spend copious amounts of time cooking and baking for family and friends. Food is my hobby. Sometimes, I manage to sneak in some crochet projects and reading (books about food, of course).

How long have you been with Webster?

I’ve been with Webster for 15 years.

How do you help Webster University Online students and faculty?

I ensure that courses are available and have the correct course content, and that students and faculty can access their courses. I also troubleshoot and fix issues with the learning management system (Canvas®)

What part of your job is the most satisfying?

One of the most satisfying parts of my job is helping someone to fix an issue that they were sure couldn’t be fixed.

Do you have any advice for students?

Enjoy the growth that comes with learning new information. Learning to think objectively and analytically about new information helps you to grow as a person.

What’s your favorite part about being a Gorlok?

That whenever I wear a Webster University shirt, I always connect with people who either attended Webster or has someone special that has attended Webster. It’s always a wonderful experience to meet other Gorlocks, and to hear how Webster University has positively impacted their life.
