Please tell us about yourself and your background, current title. A career changer, I spent 7 years in elementary education before shifting to career development at Webster University. I joined the Webster University Career Planning & Development Center team as the Assistant Director, Career Development. I am now the Director of the center and have a strong team to assist students explore and define their personal career goals while developing the skills and confidence necessary to succeed.
What do you do in your free time? I enjoy spending time with my animals, Charlie and Peppermint, exercising with my fit-family, travelling, and obstacle course racing.
How long have you been with Webster? I joined the Webster family in 2015 – 3 years has gone by so quickly!
How do you help Webster University Online students? Our team assists online students with their career decision making through goal setting and planning, job/internship search strategies, preparing customized application materials, and more. Through phone, e-mail, or a virtual visit via WebEx, technology has made it easy to connect with students near and far.
What are some of our students’ frequently asked questions? What can I do with my major? This question is commonly asked among students from all degree programs at Webster. Students can do just about anything with the right knowledge, skills acquired through experiential learning, and more.
What part of your job is the most satisfying? THE STUDENTS! Our team is committed to providing mission driven services and resources that positively impact the career decision making of our students.
Do you have any advice for students? I think it’s important to engage with outside of the classroom experiential learning while completing a degree program. That can be leveraging newly acquired skills in an internship, studying abroad, or on-going volunteer work.
What is your favorite part of Webster? My favorite part of Webster University is the global community of colleagues and students who I get to connect with daily. The Webster community is welcoming, student centered, and globally astute.
